Taxi driver clocked at 104mph on Highland danger road

A part-time taxi driver was caught speeding at 104mph on a Highland danger road, a court heard today (Monday).

Ruairidh Blacklaws (26) admitted speeding in a 60mph zone on the A96 at Gollanfield near Nairn on January 24.

Solicitor Natalie Bruce told the court her client was a remote vehicle operator in the offshore industry and a taxi driver while onshore.

She said Blacklaws, of Wyvis Drive, Nairn, also held a licence for a minibus, taxi and a motorcycle.

"He accepts his conduct was unacceptable," she told Inverness Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Margaret Neilson fined him £600 and also endorsed his licence with six penalty points.

Thought being caught doing over a ton was an automatic ban?

A bit of nit picking here.

Is this a Scottish name

Ruairidh
....I cannot even begin to pronounce it.

And yes! I also thought that it would be an automatic ban.
