Taxi driver to face licensing panel in February

A taxi driver could see his licence revoked after being caught driving over a roundabout by a campaigning cyclist.

The Lawlors taxi driver was publically shamed on YouTube by London bus driver Dave Sherry, 37, after he was caught cutting across a roundabout outside Epping train station in December.

The driver has since been summoned to appear in front of a licensing panel on February 10 where the decision as to whether the licence is suspended or revoked will be made.

The video, which was filmed at 8.30pm on December 3, is one of 398 videos published online by Mr Sherry shaming ‘dangerous driving’ in Epping Forest and Harlow.

Mr Sherry said: “I record my journeys to shame careless and reckless drivers and make roads a little safer.

“What the driver did was extremely dangerous, it is just beyond laziness.

“A confident driver would go around the roundabout because that is what it is there for.

“He came across with such a speed and if it carries on someone will get hurt.

“My videos speak for themselves, I’m just trying to publicise road safety and road justice.”

A spokesman for Lawlors defended the driver’s actions as “safer than driving around the roundabout”.

He said: “I don’t believe the driver did anything wrong.

“What he did was safer than driving around the roundabout as if he had he probably would have put the biker in more danger because he would have been snaking around.”

Maybe this guy used to get bullied at school?? OR thinks he's some sort of policeman ?

This guy is a complete fruit cake and his behaviour is obsessive. Have a look at that bike and the kit he is wearing. He's got a Go Pro Camera and God only knows how many power packs strapped to his bike. This is not someone cycling to his work and back.

PHV driver driving like an "end" certainly could be seen as careless driving.


as much as I despise these cycle Nazis and would back a fellow driver to the hilt the PHV driver is completely in the wrong. hardly as newsworthy as its been made out to be though.


and as for his company not seeing anything wrong words fail me, wrong side of the road crossing a hatched area and failure to obey a mini roundabout for starters.

Let's be honest who hasn't "gone straight over" one of those mini roundabouts.Half the time I can't be ars ed going round them !!

Rightly or wrongly; I use them properly if there are others in the area, other than that I treat them as symbolic.

I would hope that his filming equipment is subject to the same rigerous stipulations/standard that ours is required to be! Ours no doubt would cost hundreds of pounds to meet the standard required.......his will probably cost a couple of quid at best - does it meet judicial standards?

One other point! The guy is a bus driver! if he is claiming that he does the right thing at all times out on the road......then he is a liar.Some of the bus driving that I have witnessed defies belief........there cannot be a perfect one out there.

I was once told that mini roundabouts are just an indication to give way to the right and you only have to go round them if they are bounded by a solid white line, although I've never found anything to confirm this.

Thats the kind of remark that wrongly gives all cyclists a bad name...a lycra clad vigilante, yet almost all of the Cyclists I know are out to enjoy their past time and not to make life a fechin misery for motorists and other road users like the hardcore self professed "Guardians of the Road" minority do.

I've yet to see a cyclist stop at red lights ffs. Whilst what this driver did was both stupid and dangerous cyclist are far from the angels they like us to think they are
