Boy, 15, admits he stabbed taxi driverA 15-YEAR-OLD boy has admitted stabbing a taxi driver seven times.
The teenager appeared at Basildon Crown Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to maliciously wounding the cabbie who works for Southend-based company, Steve’s Taxi’s.
The 42-year-old taxi driver was attacked as he stopped to pick up two women. One wound was so deep it slashed his kidney and the Echo was told doctors were initially monitoring it in case they needed to remove it.
The boy also admitted possession of a knife in Linden Road, Benfleet, on the same night – September 20, 2014.
He also pleaded guilty to damaging the driver’s Mazda 6 car, as well as a Citroen van.
Three other charges, relating to damage caused to three other vehicles, were ordered to lie on file. Reporting restrictions put in place by the court prevent the Echo from naming the schoolboy.
Judge Jonathan Black ordered the case be adjourned so pre-sentence and psychiatric reports could be carried out on the boy.
Judge Black said: “You have pleaded guilty to five of the seven charges against you and you now need to be sentenced.
“I need a report to tell me more about you.”
The defendant was remanded in secure accommodation until his sentencing which will take place at Basildon Crown Court, on February 13.
