Mansfield widow speaks out after taxi man jailed over death of partner

A devastated widow is ‘living in a nightmare’ since the tragic death of her ‘soulmate’ in a horrific crash.

Rachael Price, (35), of Mansfield, has spoken of her grief and utter devastation after the driver of the other vehicle was sent to prison last Monday.

Motorcyclist Mark Christopher Buckley (34) was on his way to work at Eddie Stobart in Annesley on his Yamaha 125 when he was hit by a taxi travelling in the opposite direction.

The taxi driver, Kevin Wiesztort, (35), of Clipstone, was driving on the wrong side of the road when the crash happened close to Notts Golf Club, Hollinwell, in March last year.

Wiesztort was jailed for 45 months after admitting death by dangerous driving at Nottingham Crown Court.

It is understood he will only serve 22 and a half months.

This week Mark’s grief-stricken family are now trying to put the pieces of their lives back together,

Miss Price said: “I am devastated and can’t get my head around what has happened. I am living in a nightmare.

“I could never begin to describe in words the extent of what Mark meant to me, our children and family. I can tell you we never went a day without being in constant contact, telling each other ‘I love you’ words I will never hear spoken again. I am now left alone, without my soul mate, the love of my life-without someone to share the future, without someone to share the stresses and strains of everyday life.”

She and Mark’s immediate family have taken time off work due to the loss.

She added: “We attempt to deal with this loss whilst knowing that someone was responsible for Mark’s death that due to someone else’s lack of care, their bad judgement, Mark is no longer here to be a partner to me, a father to our children, a son aged 15, stepson, also 15, and daughter aged just 6, and be a son to his parents. Justice has not be served, yes he will have to live with his actions the rest of his life, but we will have to try and find a way to live our lives without Mark, how can we even begin to do that?”
