It was disappointing to see both of our local Newspapers run a story regarding the Taxi App company Get Taxi. The story basically portrayed this as a new service being introduced to the Edinburgh public. All three taxi companies in Edinburgh have had an App service for over 3 years. Unfortunately for the local taxi trade neither the Evening news nor The Scotsman can find it in themselves to ever run a positive story about the local taxi trade even though it is probably the best taxi service in Great Britain. Local companies providing local people with employment. Do they think Get Taxi will contribute anything into the local economy. It was a double whammy to see a taxi driver in jeans selling this supposedly ground breaking technology. A poor show all round. |

And what have committees ever achieved, other than keeping the trade divided and jumping on the gravy train to line their own pockets? Oh that's right, now I remember, you work for ECPH. You run a highly inefficient and costly means of providing the Edinburgh public with what only could be described, as a fragmented transport solution. You said it yourself, three companies with apps, all working through their own central office. It's sameo, sameo ... daft wee committees that cannot see the bigger picture because of their own greed. You brought it on yourselves....

Les, I'm afraid you are beating a burst drum. If your fighting the corner of a parasite booking office your free ride is over, cut and run mate. If your a driver get up to speed and you will do alright. You make some decent posts and very eloquently too but I'm afraid the clear message is that you don't know what you are talking about. Sorry! |

I don't think Les was saying all that - I think he was pointing out Edinburgh's taxi companies all have apps - and they all received less free publicity |

I think I am right in saying Get Taxi take around 10% of the fare at the moment. I believe Uber is around 20% A radio worker in his chosen company, if he works the system properly, pays less per job than either of these two. If he is in an Association then he has the benefits of having a say in the running of that company. It may be considered a bit old fashioned but that still sounds like a better deal. In addition to this you also have the benefit of having helpful Committee men to assist you with any problems. |

Thank you Captain. A taxi driver without an axe to grind. A bit of a novelty in the Scottish Section. |

Quote: A radio worker in his chosen company, if he works the system properly, pays less per job than either of these two. It's not a better deal if you are dragged all over Edinburgh on a Fri/Saturday night to cover the work? It is, in fact, very costly....££££££££££££ Oh and what about when you are not out working, a day off or on the sick but you are still paying for the privilege...£££££££££ ? And if your vehicle is off the road or you are off on holiday £££££££££££? Oh and where do these radio dues come from? Ah that's right, paying committees ridiculous salaries to offer huge discounts to companies to buy their work!! Time to move on me auld son..... The future does not need you!!

You can say what you like CC, but City Cabs is far from a global technology platform.

Cab drivers are far from global technology geeks - but the apps would be f*cking useless without them
