Roy Keane could face charges after being questioned under police caution following alleged road-rage bust-up with taxi driver
Roy Keane has been questioned under police caution following an alleged road-rage bust-up with a taxi driver last month. The Republic of Ireland assistant manager was interviewed by Greater Manchester Police by appointment at the station and the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) will now decide whether Keane will face any charges. Keane was quizzed by police earlier this month but it is not yet known when the CPS will reach its decision. The CPS will decide whether or not the Ireland assistant and ITV pundit will face charges The former Manchester United captain is said to have banged on the window of a cab, made obscene gestures and hurled a foul-mouthed tirade of abuse after clambering out of his Range Rover at traffic lights in Altrincham. Keane, 43, is then reported to have got back into his vehicle and driven off, leaving the taxi driver stunned. The cabbie then reported the matter to Greater Manchester Police who confirmed that they are investigating. Shocked onlookers witnessed the alleged altercation near the Unicorn pub at the junction of Lloyd Street and Railway Street in Altrincham town centre, south of Manchester, at 11.30am on Friday, January 30. Keane, who lives in nearby Hale, is said to have driven up the road behind the taxi before getting out at the lights. Following the alleged incident a GMP spokesman said at the time: 'At 11.30am this morning, Friday 30 January 2015, police were called to Ashley Road, Altrincham to a report that a man had behaved aggressively towards another man. 'An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.' Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... z3S75xUHCD |

Roy Keane to be prosecuted over 'road-rage rant at taxi driver' Former Manchester United captain faces court accused of foul-mouthed tirade against taxi driver Fateh Kerar in row at traffic lights in Altrincham Roy Keane has been summonsed to appear in court over an alleged road-rage row with a taxi driver. The former Manchester United captain is alleged to have launched a foul-mouthed tirade at taxi driver Fateh Kerar at traffic lights in Altrincham. Keane, 43, was interviewed by police about the incident involving the 44-year-old driver last month. A statement from Greater Manchester Police confirmed a summons had been sent to Keane's home in Hale. He is due to appear before Trafford magistrates on March 31 accused of a public order offence. The statement confirmed the summons was in connection with an alleged incident on Ashley Road in Altrincham on Friday, January 30, following a report that a man behaved aggressively towards another man. Mr Kerar, from Altrincham, claimed the alleged row was triggered when he and his passenger noticed Keane parked in his Range Rover in Hale. Keane enjoyed a trophy-laden career at Old Trafford and also played for Nottingham Forest and Glasgow Celtic. His no-nonsense approach, on and off the field, has seen him establish himself as a straight-talking TV football pundit. He has also managed Premier League Sunderland and Championship side Ipswich, but he recently gave up his job as assistant manager of Aston Villa to concentrate on a similar role with the Republic of Ireland's national team. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... river.html |
