App taxi company Uber hopes to set up in the Bradford districtTAXI company Uber has revealed that Bradford is one of the cities it hopes to begin operating in, although no timetable is yet in place.
The company, which operates in cities across the globe, has applied to Bradford Council for planning permission to use a small office in Glyde House, off Little Horton Lane, as a two person office.
But a spokesman told the Telegraph & Argus that although the company has submitted an application and was hoping to open in Bradford, there were as yet no firm plans about when it would be established.
The internet-based service allows customers to arrange a taxi with drivers registered to Uber and book a fare using a smartphone app. The company is planning a major expansion in European cities - so far its UK operation is limited to London, Leeds and Manchester.
A spokesman said: “We’ve submitted an application should our plans progress. Our ambition is to be in every major city in the UK, and Bradford is one of those. We’re still a long way off, but we are looking for premises.”
