Quite a few have been on here in the past, many of them are no longer in the trade.

I think you will earn, but it wont be fortunes.

Yes I'm looking at working for a firm with fleet insurance fmc or 203020 ill probably have to pay a bit more for a few years.

Hoping to clear about 400 a week on nightshift think that's possible ?

Also anyone had experience with fmc apparently they work throughout Scotland

Thanks in advance

lets face the facts kid 203020 painted a big glorious picture of how u will make a fortune ?
well think again you want o make 400 that means you have to make 800 in Dundee = no chance because they have f**ked Dundee beyond believe
to be honest the only people they have is mugs with a capitol M the minute u tell the d u don't have his fees u will be fined then u run up a bill of debt were your only workin for them watch your life go down hill fact I know a lot of them in that position so the choice is yours

Kev, 400 a week? With the costs you will incur as a young driver i would say no. Maybe you could in the odd good week but consistently I think not. 300 you would struggle as well. Christ even 200 may be a struggle. I ain't joking sir. The costs are too high, with less pie for us to eat from. I am still doing this because my costs are manageable. I own my car outright for example. If i was to rent, i would be doing some other job (providing someone would take my sorry behind!!).

How does 70 to 80 hours a week night-shift sound to try and get that cash with the costs you will face? And how about 40 hours and you have just started to cover your taxi costs for the week?

As you know the uk is gubbed at the moment. As a cabbie, you can see it with your own eyes and the sight ain't to pretty. If you can, do something else. If you must, try it for yourself, get your badge for one year and rent a car from a base and see what you can do. At least if what i am saying turns out to be true for you then the cost to you could have been much worse.

I am an old fart compared to you sir, so I am now prepared to sacrifice a social life to bring the coin in. At 22 my mind would have been much different about that side of my life. I know it is hard to get a decent jobs nowadays, but if you can find one where there is good banter to be had (the cash might not be the best) then that is a result I say. Best of luck. It is hard out there. Btw, when is your generation going to start kicking up a storm about the way the economy is? Revolution will only come from you guys.

Sorry got a bit heavy there..............good luck mate.

Anyone had first hand experience with Mr young seems to have a lot of enemies ?

And Thanks for the replys forgot to mention I'm currently unemployed and going back to college but unfortunately it pays more to sit on my a r s e all day than going back to education so need something with reasonable money and flexible don't mind working weekends etc that's why I decided on taxis I'm not going to go with 203020 as they appear to be putting a lot of white plate Nissan leads on the road

Fmc "training school" starts next Monday they want 240 pw for a yellowplate Peugeot partner on night shift through teles office

Out of curiosity how many hours a week are you working to take home 300 on night shift.

And finally an I better to use an accountant or do my self assessment ?

Thanks again some great info im not naive to think I'm gonna be a millionaire from being a taxi driver just need the bill a paid and a bit of cash left over .

unfortunatley fmc is controlled by mr young through teles
second of all most of his driver put down false utr numbers and don't have any accountants to deal with cause the taxman doesn't even recognise them

so your going back to college well who's paying for your tuition because u won't be entitled to it if your driving taxis

I know that fmc use Tele radios but that would be one of Tue busier offices

I will get funding for college just not a bursary which is basically brew money think it's like 80pw but have to pay half of my rent of of that aswell

Surely that's far too easy to dodge tax that way ?
