For the last week we have been transporting some japanese people from a local hotel the the nearby network rail test track.
At the moment the test track is being used to test trains for London Underground and Crossrail.
I took 8 of these chaps down to the test track this morning and there was a new arrival on the track. Take a look and see what you think of the next generation of high speed trains.

Wolmar is critical of the way the trains have been paid for. "It was completely insane with a very complicated PFI deal that will cost the rail industry and push up ticket prices for years to come." The DfT rejects this. "The IEP represents great value for money for the taxpayer, and will deliver the services that passengers need and expect," a spokesman says.

Prices set to go up with yet another PFI thanks to the Tories.

The Rolling stock aren't owned by the Train Companies they're owned by (ROSCO's) then are leased to Train Operating Companies.

ROSCO's were set up by the Tories when they sold the Railways off in 1993, they leased the rolling stock back to the Train Operating Companies making more money for their mates.

Most of the rolling stock is now owned by a Hong Kong based Company.

It's a nice bit of kit, 10 years to late IMO. There's no point in having high speed trains if they can't do the speed on the outdated network.

I used to love these when I was a kid, living not far from a main coal line we used to ride the wagons when they came past.
