Lucky escape: Derby minicab driver unhurt after car overturns

A minicab driver walked free from his car uninjured after it ended up on its roof.

The man suffered only minor injuries after the grey Volkswagen crashed in Grange Avenue, Sunny Hill, at 12.20pm.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved and the circumstances behind how the car ended up on its roof are still under investigation.

A force spokesman said: “We are speaking with the driver about how it came to be on its roof.

“He walked free from the vehicle unharmed and the road had to be closed while the vehicle was recovered.”

The drivers seem popular with locals

Obviously i have no idea what happened here, but it seems the best place to say that taxi drivers in Derby drive like complete idiots. They speed, tailgate, talk on the phone whilst driving and seem to be constantly distracted. A few weeks ago I was a passenger in a taxi who was driving too close to the car in front - cursing they were slowing him down (they were driving the legal limit), we told him he should just back off, we were in no rush. They slowed to turn a corner and the taxi drove straight into the back of them. He cursed them in person this time but we all told him it was his own fault, police ended up getting called out. If it's later in the evening you can guarantee the cars who are doing the overtaking or trying to beat a red light are taxi drivers. For people who have to driver as their profession, they sure can't drive for sh!t!

For some strange reason they can't get licensed in Derby.
