Minicab drivers face court for illegal use of Blue Badges

Two private hire drivers have been prosecuted for illegally using Blue Badges for the disabled in Rotherham.

Kamran Khan, aged 34, of Popple Street, Grimesthorpe, Sheffield, was fined £140 and ordered to pay costs of £300 and a £20 victim surcharge, after he admitted using his grandmother’s badge to park his car in a disabled bay on Don Street in January.

Rotherham magistrates heard his gran was not present and he was undertaking personal business in Riverside House.

And 38-year-old Imran Khan, of Broom Valley Road, Rotherham, was fined £35 and ordered to pay costs of £150 and a £20 victim surcharge after he admitted using his daughter’s blue badge in December last year.

He parked on Percy Street, Rotherham, when his daughter was at school.

Martin Beard, of Rotherham Council, said: “Blue badges are for use by people with genuine needs.

“They are not a free parking permit for family and friends.”

Our council has employed a full time mush who's only job is to round up all those that abuse the Blue Badge system.

He is a very busy boy, and has rounded up loads and loads of BB abusers. =D>

Good lad ,send him up here because yesterday I watched someone carry a TV from Argos to his car which was parked with a Blue Badge on it in a disabled space.

Well in order to get a blue badge you should imo have to drive one of these;

Image

the blue badges would disappear overnight - save for the poor bleeders that really need them

So in your opinion, disabled people can only go out on their own.
