Taxi driver injured in Southwold by customer who demanded money in knifepoint robberyA man attacked a taxi driver at knifepoint at around 3am this morning in Southwold.
Police were called to Field Stile Road in the town after a report that a 50-year-old taxi driver had been hurt.
A police spokeswoman said: “The taxi driver was called to pick up a fare on Field Stile Road to go to Stratton near Norwich when a man got into the front of the taxi and a woman into the back.
“The driver went to help the woman to close the back door of the car when the man demanded money and threatened the driver with a knife causing a cut to his head and hand which resulted in the driver going to James Paget Hospital for treatment.”
An ambulance was called to the scene in what police described as a “nasty” incident.
The man is white, aged around 20, of slim build and around 5ft 9inches tall. He was wearing a dark top, dark trousers, blue jeans and a woolly hat. The woman is described as smaller than the man and also wearing dark clothing.
