Naked man with cricket bat 'chased' shoppers around Toys R Us A man has been detained following an incident at Toys R Us in Dundee. Pic from Google Street Maps. Casualty: A woman was injured during the incident at Toys R us. A woman has been taken to hospital after a naked man swinging a cricket bat began "chasing" shoppers around a Toys R Us. It is understood the woman suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone in the incident, which took place at around 2.35pm on Sunday in Dundee. Police confirmed a man has been detained in connection with the disturbance at the Kingsway West Retail Park but has not been charged. It is understood around 20 people had to pin the man down using a trolley after he entered the shop and stripped off. Witnesses told The Courier newspaper he was "ranting and raving" in a foreign language before he began threatening a child. He was also said to have chased adults and children through the shop while throwing items and shouting threats. Emergency services were called and an ambulance took the woman, who is believed to be a stranger to the man, to Dundee's Ninewells Hospital for treatment. Gavin Watt, who was in the shop at the time, told The Courier: "He was swinging the bat and tried to get at folk and an older lady. "He had been ranting and raving in a foreign language. There must have been 20 other folk who jumped on him and took him down. "He was still struggling and we had to put trolleys on top of him to keep him there. "The man was really strong. He was big and bulky and tattooed all over. Even with him being pinned down by all these folk he was still able to wriggle about. "The young child was taken away round the corner out of harm's way. The police cuffed him and put him in a van." The man is also alleged to have chased one woman and child into the shop toilets, before kicking toilet doors and chasing them down the aisles. Police attended the scene and remained there for several hours interviewing witnesses. Bystanders also reported the man had driven his car into a trolley park outside the shop, causing a crash, just prior to the incident. A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "A man has been detained following a disturbance at a shop in Dundee. "The incident happened around 2.35pm on Sunday, April 5, at the Toy R Us store in Kingsway West. "A female sustained a facial injury during the disturbance and required medical attention. "Officers are also investigating a collision outside the premises prior to the incident. "Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in or around the store is asked to contact Police Scotland immediately on 101." http://news.stv.tv/tayside/316231-naked ... um=twitter |

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-t ... l-32216532 A man has appeared in court accused of abducting a six-year-old boy and hitting a woman with a cricket bat in a Dundee toy shop - while naked. Przemyslaw Kaluzny is facing a total of 12 charges over a series of alleged incidents at Toys R Us on Sunday. The 41-year-old is accused of picking up the boy and trying to run out of the shop with him before attacking his 67-year-old grandmother with the bat. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. Kaluzny, of Watson Street, Dundee, is first alleged to have stolen a mobile phone from a neighbour's flat before intentionally exposing his genitals to her. He is then said to have stolen a cricket bat from the flat before taking and driving away a Renault Laguna car. Removed clothing He is then alleged to have driven the car from the Baxter Park area of the city to the Kingsway Retail Park without insurance and without a licence. Prosecutors say Kaluzny then went into the Toys R Us store and committed a breach of the peace by behaving in a disorderly manner and running into the store while in possession of a cricket bat. He is then said to have removed his clothing, shouted, bawled, entered the toilets and adopted a menacing and aggressive attitude, brandished the bat, and placed staff and customers in a state of alarm by struggling violently with them. 'Public indecency' Kaluzny is further accused of an offence of public indecency by moving through the store while naked. He is then alleged to have abducted a six-year-old boy by picking him up and attempting to run out of the shop while carrying him and detaining him against his will. Kaluzny is further alleged to have assaulted the boy's 67-year-old grandmother by striking her on the head with the bat to her injury. A final charge alleges that he broke a pair of police handcuffs while he was being transported from the store to Dundee's police HQ. He made no plea or declaration during a brief private hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court, and was remanded in custody by Sheriff George Way until a further hearing next week. |
