A taxi driver who made inappropriate sexual comments towards his young passengers has been ordered to complete unpaid work.
Tariq Mahmood quizzed the three teenage girls their bodies and also about condoms.
Kirklees Magistrates’ Court heard that the 47-year-old has since lost his job with the Cleckheaton-based firm.
He was convicted after a trial of six charges of using threatening behaviour.
The court heard that on October 1 Mahmood was responsible for taking students to various locations in Kirklees.
He was travelling towards Huddersfield when his young passengers heard him make an inappropriate comments.
Prosecutor Alex Bozman said: “He made sexual remarks, asking them about condoms and what they did with their boyfriends.
“He made remarks about their anatomy which caused the girls to be upset.”
Mahmood, of Victoria Avenue in Cleckheaton, made similar remarks on the girls’ return journey.
Mr Bozman said: “The following week when they went to college they told staff there were afraid to get in the taxi because of the behaviour of the driver.”
The court heard that Mahmood has since lost his taxi licence and employment as a result of the incident.
District Judge Maxwell told him: “These are unpleasant offences involving young girls who should not be exposed to this sort of behaviour.”
He sentenced Mahmood to 150 hours of unpaid work.
He must also pay £300 court costs and £60 victim surcharge.
