Consultation looks at CCTV in county taxis


Midlothian Council wants to hear your views on plans to use CCTV and audio recording equipment in licensed taxis and private hire cars.

The council has launched an online survey about the issue. The consultation will run for three more weeks.

A spokesman said: “In common with a number of local authorities across Britain, Midlothian Council is approving the use of CCTV and audio recording equipment in licensed taxis and private hire cars.

“The aim is to deter and prevent crime, to reduce the fear of crime and to assist in criminal and incident investigations.”
