Very interesting.

I see these buses on a daily basis and it rather annoys me they are doing what they are doing with tax payers money.

One Charity bus round here is out every Saturday night taking people into town an bringing them back.

I cant wait for the Government reply.

I had this rather interesting reply from one of my correspondents who is a medium-sized PSV operator in north Kent who has just lost his dial-a-ride network to a s19 operator.

"It’s noticeable that the statement is a joint one between ATCO and CTA. Now I would naively have expected ATCO to remain detached from CTA for the simple reason that the ATCO members are the very people who will be placing contracts out to tender on behalf of their employers the County Councils. The fact that they have joined forces with CTA on this issue means that the process is weighted against the legitimate PCV ‘O’ Licenced bus operators".

I can't immediately find the reply someone gave to the infraction letter but something smells rather odd here. ISTR the Birmingham CTA lot has over 750 vehicles with highly paid executive, some of whom are council officials and councillors! Of course, none of their work is done for commercial activity or hire and reward.

I may have posted this before, maybe CC will move it to the court database section. Though this case defines commercial use for lorries and tachograph use, there is a letter in existence that states it can also be applied to passenger transport.
