Serbian Capital Investments Minister Velimir Ilic said that the government is not violating the constitutional right to choose your own place of work with this law, because it is not putting a limit on the number of taxi drivers, rather, on the number of vehicles on the road. “Taxi drivers need to organize themselves better, the way that it is done in the rest of the world; a taxi can be driven by three or four individuals in shifts.” Ilic said. So they're limiting numbers to avert chaos but the limit doesn't matter because there can be several drivers in each taxi? I'm sure this is the same story I read from Liverpool a while back, with just the names changed. Lord save us

Well why don't you post the bit down the bottom and put your spin on it?

All that fighting over there must have knocked some sense into them. |

Have they not heard of London etc . It does sound like liverpool tell a load of porkies , say it often enough, then the dim wits ,runing the place begin to believe it. How can you maintain a vehicle properly ,when its being treble shifted . Just the kind of thinking you would expect from a backward state .streetcar |

No, I did read the whole story - the point is the usual one - they want to limit the number of taxis, but not drivers, so they only seem concerned about taxi owners, and not the people driving. Remind me again, if rank space in Liverpool, for example, is such a problem, then why did the council water down the knowledge to get more drivers into the trade and more recently advertise in the press for more drivers? I mean, what's the point of limiting taxi numbers in Serbia if they're going to pack as many drivers as possible into them? So presumably it's just about making some drivers work for others and paying for the privilege. |

Since the Serbian Radical Party are opposing the policy, I thought I would send them an email in support, but changed my mind when I looked at their website
