Council revokes private hire licence of Hull sex offender COUNCILLORS have removed delegated powers that allowed officers to decide on taxi driver licence applications.
It comes after a convicted sex offender was granted a private hire licence in Hull four years ago without any involvement of councillors in the decision-making process.
The man had previously had his licence revoked in 2002, following his conviction for a serious sexual assault.
When he applied again in 2011, he was granted a licence by council officers. They gave the go-ahead despite a criminal record check which listed the sex offence.
An enhanced criminal records check required for a recent licence renewal application revealed two other previously allegations of indecent assault.
The man's licence has now been revoked.
