Taxi drivers protest over DG Cars' plans to use offices near station

Nearly 170 taxi drivers have objected to plans from DG Cars to use the Picture Works site as a temporary home.

The private hire firm has been using the site on Queens Road, near the station, as offices since December 2013. Now the company is looking to extend the temporary use through to next December.

Nottingham City Council said the original permission was given to see how the taxi office would work with the new-look station and tram lines. The council added the full effect couldn't be judged as the tram lines are not up and running.

There has been considerable representation from the Hackney taxi drivers – with 169 letters submitted to the council.

They have objected to the plans on the grounds of highway safety.

A full decision will be made at the planning committee on Wednesday.

DG cars are a big player in the Nottingham scene. They play by the book (sometimes).
