I've just seen a clip on Facebook that says Uber is to be exposed on BBC Watchdog on Thursday 18th June 2015 for using vehicles with the wrong insurance, credit card scams and unlicenced drivers in its London based operation.

No surprises then!

Read something in the Guardian about accepting a fake insurance document online. It seems odd that they will accept a dodgy insurance cert online and off you go

Depends how good the copy is.

Do any firms ring the insurance company to confirm the vehicle is insured, or do they just look and file?

Having just watched the program, I'm yet again looking to see what Uber have done wrong that every other large operator doesn't.

Also not sure how Uber can be blamed for credit card fraud. Do we blame Asda if a person uses stolen data to buy food?

The fraudsters just happened to guess that the people had an UBER account and also guessed the card details? Or could it be that UBERs system is not secure? Or the way in which they dealt with complaints when people actually got a reply?

Agreed this wasn't a standard credit card hack if it was the perpetrators would have got more than free transport which points to the breach in security being at Uber's end.

I'm not convinced they did.

The defense by Uber, which wasn't challenged by Anne R, is that the customer used the same passwords for all their online stuff.

That is the thick punters fault, and Uber did say they were amending their software to only allow the customers phone with the password to access their service now.

And as far as I'm aware no punter has lost out financially.
