Rotherham minicab driver faces 11 child sex charges


A MAN has been charged with several offences relating to child sexual exploitation in Rotherham.

Sajid Bostan, of Vernon Road, Rotherham, faces 11 charges including unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13, indecent assault and buggery.

It is alleged the offences occurred between 1990 and 2001.

Bostan has been bailed to appear before Rotherham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

He has been charged as part of Operation Clover, a joint investigation by South Yorkshire Police in partnership with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and the Crown Prosecution Service.

Man, 38, charged over Rotherham child sex offences


A man has been charged with eleven offences relating to child sexual exploitation in Rotherham.

Sajid Bostan, 38, has been charged with offences including unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13.

Mr Bostan, of Vernon Road, Rotherham, has been bailed to appear at the town's magistrates court on Thursday.

He was charged by South Yorkshire Police as part of Operation Clover, an investigation into child sexual exploitation in the town.

Police in Rotherham to work in partnership with the Rotherham Private Hire Drivers Association

Police in Rotherham will be working in partnership with the Rotherham Private Hire Drivers Association throughout Christmas and New Year, in a bid to reduce crime associated with the night time economy and people getting themselves home from parties and nights out in Rotherham safely.

One of the main concerns to police is the safety of the residents of Rotherham and the taxi drivers that work hard throughout the borough during the festive season. During the Christmas period, people are drinking and socialising more and there is a wider chance of assaults and antisocial behaviour aimed at taxi drivers. The partnership working is aimed at reducing the levels of abuse and antisocial behaviour and bringing to justice the small group of individuals that continue to spoil it for others.

Chief Inspector Richard Butterworth said: "The police will not tolerate criminal offences or antisocial behaviour against hackney carriage taxi and private hire drivers and will work hard to bring the full weight of the law against those who wish to cause problems for those going about their business.It is always a minority who cause problems as the vast majority of people respect the service that is offered and are grateful to be able to call a hackney carriage taxi or private hire after a night out in the town.

I'm looking forward to working closely with drivers' representatives to ensure that they enjoy a safe working environment.

"Mr Sajid Bostan, Vice Chairman of the Rotherham Private Hire Drivers Association said: "We take people home after a great time, but there is a minority of people who subject drivers to abuse or even assaults and damaging taxis.

It's this minority that spoils it for everyone.Hackney carriage taxi and private hire firms are keen to work with the police to ensure drivers are safe during the festive period and beyond.

We want everyone to have a good time and the drivers provide a valuable service to the town and Rotherham area.

"People are urged to follow this important safety advice to help keep themselves safe and on the right side of the law throughout the Christmas and New Year period:

• Don't drink and drive - use public transport or a hackney carriage taxi or private hire

• Even if you think you are under the limit get a lift instead of being locked up• Police will be increasing patrols looking for drink drivers – do not take the risk

• Police will not tolerate abuse, assaults on taxi drivers and damage to their vehicles or not paying fares• Police will be supporting taxi drivers and private hire throughout the Christmas period and beyond

• Do not land yourself in police custody due to criminal actions against taxi drivers

• Taxi drivers are encouraged to report and support convictions

Police in Rotherham and The Rotherham Private Hire Drivers Association would like to wish all of the residents of Rotherham a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and ask that they all keep themselves safe and crime free. -

I'd have to see a photo of the guy before I believed he was 38. I still remember the photo of the 40 something guy on here who clearly had had a hard life
