Liverpool's longest established taxi service launches app A new app has been launched by ComCab Liverpool, part of the UK’s biggest radio circuit, with the aim of making the process of booking a taxi safer and more convenient, as well as stimulating business growth. At the touch of a button and thanks to GPS technology, users can directly book one of the company’s black cabs, get an estimated price for their journey, know the vehicle registration and track their driver’s progress. This is good news for ComCab’s corporate clients as the app will accept account bookings as well as cash transactions, meaning authorised staff can book their own ground transport and still provide a full audit trail for accounting purposes. Presently the firm which is based on Falkland Street, has 320 vehicles in its fleet, receives around 50,000 telephone calls per month and takes 2,000 fares per day. Karen Long, General Manager at ComCab Liverpool said, “The aim of our app is to make the customer experience as seamless as possible. It puts the user in control, allowing them to see where their taxi is. Gone are the days of drivers being ‘just around the corner’ as our app has a tracking feature which means you can see the driver’s location and watch the cab as it moves towards the pickup point. “This is not a third party product but our own app with an integrated on-line booking channel. The service will only further enhance our continued growth in the corporate market as well as giving the individual consumer an additional method of booking a black cab through a reputable Liverpool based company.” Established in 1958, ComCab is Liverpool’s largest black cab company. Formerly known as MerseyCabs, it was acquired by CityFleet Networks Limited (the parent company of ComCab Liverpool) in 2008. All ComCab taxis comply with European Emission Standards and are fully wheelchair accessible. Vehicles with hearing aid induction loops are available on request. Taxis are licenced to carry five people thereby being more cost effective for larger groups, appealing to the student market plus ComCab Liverpool has 50 of the new Peugeot E7 licenced to carry six people. All ComCab Liverpool’s drivers hold a valid Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure and undergo a CRB check as a condition of their licence. 95% of ComCab Liverpool drivers also hold or are working towards NVQ Level 2 in Passenger Transport Safety. Drivers must also have passed the City Council’s ‘Knowledge’ test which assess drivers’ local street knowledge and route planning. The metered fares are regulated and approved by Liverpool City Council source: http://www.clickliverpool.com/business/ ... s-app.html |

Isn't it strange that many many taxi/PH firms are now seeing what Uber does, and copying it. And there was me thinking Uber was the spawn of the devil.
