Pay cut for all Hackney and Private Hire coming-all metered cars have 2 weeks to adjust meter and have it SEALED by authorised meter provider and receive a certificate to prove adjustment to take to council or risk suspension.

Any driver working Christmas Day,Boxing Day or New Year's Eve faces 23% pay decrease compared to last year.

I don't see how they can set the P/H rate.

If I have a meter in any of my private hire vehicles, I have to have it set to the Council rate.

It's not legal..They can not tell the P/H what they can charge..

The PH firm has to notify the LA what its rates are, whether or not the LA HAS to accept them I don't know.
If a firm wanted to run cheaper than the council rates I can't see a problem, if they wanted to charge £10 per mile I don't know if the council could stop them or not ? :?

Guildford are currently £6.90 for a 2 mile journey on T1 so they will drop to about £5.65 for a 2 mile journey which will still leave them in the top 200 in the UK and if the fares drop leads to increased usage it might not lead to a drop in earnings. I would assume that there was a lot of sitting around on the ranks with punters feeling that the cabs were too expensive otherwise drivers would have been staging mass protests and i haven't heard of many in that part of our crowded island
