Minicab driver stripped of licence after behaving aggressively

A minicab driver in Hyndburn who is said to have behaved aggressively towards a senior councillor and police has been stripped of his livelihood, a town hall committee has been told.

Majid Hussain Younis, 40, was hauled before the borough council’s judicial committee after it was established he had a number of qualifying convictions, councillors have heard.

Younis had his private hire vehicle driver’s licence revoked after members were informed of his ‘aggressive and offensive behaviour’ towards Cllr Malcolm Pritchard, two PSCOs, a licensing officer, along and a member of public.

He appealed to the magistrates court against the decision and the case was heard by Deputy District Judge Philip Houlden, who heard evidence from both sides.

The judge upheld the committee’s decision and also ordered the driver to pay £125 costs. The outcome of the case has been reported to the judicial committee, by Cllr Gareth Molineux.
