I wouldn't mind being able to use them in addition to my existing operator but I am pretty sure that won't be an option if it came down to having to choose between where I am now or working solely for Uber then I will be staying where I am partly based on better the devil you know reasoning and also without spelling out my reasoning I would not want all of my income paid into my bank account.

If a present you have 2000 Glasgow licensed vehicles (just a guess for example), and you have 2000 punters.

If Uber take 200 of those vehicles, you will still have 1800 existing licensed vehicles, but guess what? You will still have those 2000 punters.

For drivers there is no concern, it's only existing operators that should worry.

How do other PH drivers feel about Uber coming to more cities across the UK? Threat or opportunity? Interested to know other peoples fears, or if others are considering giving it a go?

Neither here no there IMO, they are what they are. If nothing else they'll make punters aware of Apps to hail taxis/ph with so that's good thing. They'll take 20% of a drivers income, that's a bad thing. Overall they're no different than the current operated circuits were somebody somewhere is getting money for doing very little at all and the driver earning it for them is appreciated as much as muck under your shoe

It's a condition of licence in Sefton that the P/H have to display the name of the company they are working for...you would not want a vulnerable person or child to be put in the wrong vehicle..

However what we need is for local drivers to do the local work, be that Uber or the existing operators. What we don't want is Uber legally using non local licensed vehicles, only a buffoon would want that. Yes that is the GMB position.

Don't you mean if they are allowed to operate, what about office rentals
