Gay friends 'kicked out of cab by Uber driver for peck on lips' Sam Simons, 36, said the row started after his friend Santiago Figeuroa, 20, moved closer to him in the back of the car so the men could look at photos on a phone together Private hire firm Uber has launched an investigation after claims one of their driver booted a gay couple out of his cab for kissing. Sam Simons, 36, said the row started after his friend Santiago Figeuroa, 20, moved closer to him in the back of the car so the men, who are both hairdressers, could look at photos on a phone together. He says his friend then put his arm around him and "pecked" him on the lips at which point the driver allegedly shouted "Man should not kiss man" several times. It is claimed he then told the pair to get out and when they refused he said he would not drive any further. The pair were on their way home to Greenwich after a night out in Chelsea on Saturday, reports the Evening Standard. Mr Simons said: "We didn't get out and told him to do his job and take us home but he refused to drive and kept yelling at us." "I love Uber - it's a great service. But this was unacceptable. "I'm a pretty tough guy. While this was inappropriate, it didn't ruin my night. "But it did ruin my friend's night, and I worry about other people being treated like that." An Uber spokeswoman said: "As a company we do not tolerate any form of discrimination whatsoever, and we have been in contact with this rider to offer our support. "Uber prides itself on providing the highest quality, safest and most convenient service, so we take any incident where we fall short very seriously. "In any incident, such as this, we suspend the driver in question while we investigate." source: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ga ... ab-6437830 |

Everyone has rights,,, ,,except the ones offended by the people exercising those rights. I have the right to kiss someone of the same sex in public, but I don't have the right to express an opinion if I'm offended by someone else same-sex kissing in public without being penalised. Even though there's a "Right to Freedom of Expression" in the ECHR. |
