Views Wanted On Taxis In Bridlington

Taxi drivers and members of the public are being urged to have their say on how taxi and private hire services are run within the East Riding.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is amending their taxi licensing policy and is asking for views and comments.
Some of the proposed changes include:

" a review of vehicle specification and a livery for taxis

" strengthening the convictions policy

" mandatory training for applicants and drivers on safeguarding

" review of taxi fares for bank holidays, seasonal periods and waiting time

" mandatory training for private hire operators on private hire law, their role and responsibilities

" publication of the names of drivers where licenses have been suspended or revoked.

Councillor Shaun Horton, portfolio holder for community involvement and local partnerships at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "Taxi licensing has had a high national profile over recent years and the policy review is a good opportunity to look at how we promote safeguarding and the protection of the public as well as support local business.

"We want to hear from drivers and members of the public about what is important to them so we can produce a policy that considers their views and needs.

"We work closely with the taxi trade, who we know are equally committed to ensuring that any changes made are in the interests of the customers using their services."
