It's ok to do a runner for £19.00 then.
Reading some of the comments, there must be some right muppets in Merseyside.

well no, you would just estimate it at 20 quid , if it clocks 19 quid just give him the quid back :?
funny enough i had one of these yesterday ( not a 20 quid , but we always ask for money up front for a certain area we go to ) the lad said i have to get the money when i get home,my wife is paying, i just said sorry, call another firm ( they all do it for that area so doubt he got 1, the fare would have only clocked about 8 quid)
i think its a great idea tbh, like they say they pay up front for most things, cinema/busses/sporting events , so shouldn't be a problem if genuine

Not quite sure Delta are saying that.

But there must be an amount that drivers can ask for, and £20 seems right for me.

Generally down here it's out of town work with punters that have not previously used the firm or the driver that we ask for upfront.

I personally think that ALL journeys should have an up front payment. If all taxis did it, it would become the norm and then the problem would soon be gone.

I am surprised that Delta are letting the drivers calculate their own fares. Surely they have the ability to calculate the fares automatically via their booking software ?

I said an up front payment. Not the exact fare. Any adjustments either way would be made at the end of the journey.

What about chargebacks? A customer can pull a fast one and say "the payment wasn't made by me."

There are no chargebacks with cash.

You can only calculate fares if the customer goes directly from A to B, doesn't stop and doesn't want to go a particular way. Using the trip meter is standard here and some systems have a meter built in to calculate fares once completed.

It's funny the way Delta have so many runners...and they all seem to be in Liverpool..
