Why would a full time job exclude a part time weekender?
Not that there are any part timers here.

Someone works, say as a fireman, for 48 hours a week.

That will leave him with zero hours a week to work the cabs.

but then how many part-timers with other full time jobs actually declare that they are driving and earning another income?

i'd consider myself a part-timer as i only work 3 night a week, but it's still up to 30 hours.

So no one, including you, will be allowed to work more than 48 hours? How will you pay for your half of your WAV?

Quite simple really as it will have no effect IMO on the number of customers.

So you will have the same number of drivers and vehicles, and the same number of customers spending the same amount of money. So when you are out you will be far busier than you are at present. Thus you should earn the same money in less time.

It's a win win situation. :D

Is that it, or are you going to elaborate on that view? :-k

I'm awaiting with bated breath.

But as long as the level of custom doesn't reduce, then I can't see the problem.

Just think wouldn't it be nice if we could all earn the same money but work less hours to gain it. :-$

Yes,it would be nice. But not at all likely, with an unlimited number of taxi's, driven by an unlimited number of drivers, is it?

Well that's the point again jimbo, the number of taxi drivers is unlimited at present in restricted areas, and the only limit is that imposed by the market - ie wages are so low they can't get any lower.

This demonstrates the basic hypocrisy of your position, as always.

Why don't you have a read of some of the stuff on the site before coming up with the same old hypocrisy. For example, what about the Bournemouth mush referred to in this piece:

Why do you call me a hypocrite? I do not employ drivers, or rent out my cab. The cab I own has never been driven by anyone else but me. I would rather my cab was parked up, where it is safe and sound, than being abused by someone who has no financial interest in it's wellbeing.
If someone wants to become an owner driver, I have no problem with that at all. They could follow the same easy path to cab ownership that I have. Or, on the other hand they could offer their services to an owner. I have yet to meet a driver who is forced to drive for any owner, they do it because they choose to do it. Even little old me started out as a driver, and I was very happy to do it. In fact, I was so happy, I bought the company.

One wonders how much money you have Jimbo, if you think paying someone up to £50,000 for a peice of plastic is an easy path. :-k

Especially when many many councils are de-limiting.
