Press Release: UPHD calling all private hire drivers to protest TfL December 17

By drivers. For Drivers.
United Private Hire Drivers

As TfL gives yet another hammer blow to private hire driver’s welfare in giving Uber the go ahead to launch its rider sharing service, drivers are organising to protect their trade and will take to the streets to protest on December 17.

The protest is organised by United Private Hire Drivers (UPHD), the leading trade body recently formed to protect the rights of all private hired drivers. UPHD is demanding that TfL immediately suspend UberPool pending the outcome of the ongoing private hire regulatory review, suspend & cap private hire driver licensing and end it's discrimination against private hire drivers.

James Farrar, UPHD Founder and spokesman said:

TfL says it sought and received assurances on safety from Uber. But Uber insists that it is not the transportation provider, its drivers are. Yet TfL has not consulted its own licensees about the safety of UberPool and the record shows most respondents to the ongoing regulatory review have told TfL that sharing rides in this way is not safe. TfL is riding rough shod over the regulatory review process by pre empting the consultation process in this way and ignoring rider concerns.’

Terry Hoy, UPHD Founder and spokesman said:

Private hire licensing in London is now out of control with TfL handing out around 1,000 new licenses every month. At more than 90,000 licenses there are 1.5 cars for hire for every street in the six mile radius. Neither the market nor the street carrying capacity can sustain this. Driver incomes are plummeting far below poverty level and London’s streets are becoming too congested.

Yaseen Aslan, UPHD Founder and spokesman said:

Recent comments from TfL board members and actions from TfL as regulator have betrayed some significant in-sensitivities to minorities, to their dignity and their rights. In consultation documents and comments in the public domain drivers are variously referred to as potential sex attackers, tax & benefit cheats, terrorists and being responsible for public defecation. None of this can be substantiated and so such communication is highly irresponsible and inflammatory. We are calling on TfL to immediately carry out a full assessment & roll review in light of the regulator’s equalities impact.

ALL these signatories were recent GMBPDB members and were ostracized by the Proprietor Branch Sec indeed formal charges were instigated by the louse, against some of these Drivers.

Sadly they repeat the normal mistakes of amateur organisation's in attempting to influence the bureaucrats instead of those with THE power the politicians they should be directing their demands at Boris and lobbying the candidates for the upcoming Mayoral election.and in the meantime lobbying the assembly members.

STILL I WISH THEM LUCK =D> =D> =D> =D>

Yes they are they have links with Galloway who is more dangerous than a expelled member on here,Who is funding this new group and why are they scared to protest at Uber,as they are the biggest group in the country operators would not dare to sack them as they are protected and all operators know who they are.Who is backing them.what do you get as a member.free legal advise, help, the founders what do you know about them except where they came from. Are they experts in trade how long have they been drivers. What links with other groups do they have suggest you look up names and check.
What else do they offer other then strike,is their a mole in the group passing info to others.will I get help from them when I need renewed license etc.
