Helensburgh man granted renewal of taxi licence despite conviction

A Helensburgh man has been granted a renewal of his taxi driver's licence - despite a conviction for a speeding.

Mr R McInnes made a personal appearance during a meeting of the Planning, Protective Services and Licensing Committee in the Council Chambers last month.

During the meeting Mr McInnes, who has been driving a taxi since 2004, admitted a speeding offence on a motor cycle last year.

The offence took place in April 2015 on the A83 between Cairndow Village and Strong Point, Cairndow and Mr McInnes was convicted in June 2015.

He received a fine of £300 and four penalty points.

However, he also told the meeting how much he regretted what had happened and "would never find himself in that situation again."

Speaking at the meeting Committee, member Councillor Richard Trail advised that Mr McInnes had "expressed himself very sincerely and that he was quite satisfied that this was a painful lesson learned and he did not expect it to happen again."

The Committee agreed to grant the renewal of Mr McInnes' taxi driver's licence.
