Taxi driver refuses to drive blind man with guide dog

A taxi driver in Folkestone has apologised after he refused to allow a blind man with a guide dog into his car.

Shepway District Council has investigated the matter, which took place last month, and concluded the driver had previously had trouble with dog dirt in his car and was reluctant to allow the helpful canine to travel.

Steve Pratt, who witnessed the incident, said: “Many people walked past this guy when he was asking for help – all were too busy to stop and assist or couldn’t be ars*d.

“Please do not walk past someone with a disability if they are asking for help – it could be a member of your family and what a horrible experience for the blind guy.

“I have put this here (on Facebook) to shame the cab driver. Hopefully he will lose fares and be ashamed of his actions and Shepway District Council will do something to the cabbie.

“And it’s sad that the cab driver or passers-by could not see past his disability.”

The driver has since agreed to write an apology, which the blind man has accepted.

An SDC spokesman said: “We received a report of a taxi driver refusing to take a blind and his guide dog in his taxi. The taxi driver has been interviewed under caution by the Shepway District Council licensing team.

“As a result, the matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of all involved parties.”

LOOK AT ME & CRAWL UP MY HOOP IM BLIND !!
sorry like but why is everyone under the impression that these dogs are different from other dogs ( forget the disability of the owner)
1- i had one the other day , pick up at lloyds bank, it was absolutely lashing down, the bloke was standing in the rain with a soaking wet black lab, sorry like i just drove past , rang the office & told them i was desperate for the toilet & give it to someone else, then went to my mothers for a cuppa

2- although these dogs are very well behaved in the car they still stink, just because the owners have a disability dose not automatically make them excellent pet owners
being a dog owner for the past 30 years or so i, showing them , feel sorry for the dogs tbh , what a life they have
