Man is ‘dragged along’ by taxi in Northampton after getting his coat stuck

A man who got his coat stuck in a taxi door in Northampton was dragged along for 10 metres when the driver drove off.

The incident happened at some point between 7.25pm and 7.40pm on December 23, a police spokeswoman said, shortly after the victim was dropped off on Adams Close.

His coat got trapped in the door of the Toyota Prius when he closed it, which led to him being dragged along the road when the driver drove off.

Police would like to speak to a woman who came to the aid of the man after the incident.

The woman was a passer-by who stopped the taxi driver after about 10 metres and helped release the man’s coat from the car.

The man was left with swelling and bruising to his arm as a result of the incident.

Police would like to speak to the woman who went to the aid of the man but also anyone else who may have witnessed the incident.

Anyone with information can call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I was thinking the same.

The days of a driver getting in and out of his car/cab to open/close a door for passengers disappeared over 40 + years ago, on that basis he did it to himself #-o As ever we have to have eyes protruding from ones backside....... I guess the driver will probably get the blame on that one
