Man and boy in hospital after PH 'hit and run' in Rutherglen A man and a young boy are in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a private hire car which failed to stop. The boy, aged six, and man, 31, were outside Rutherglen's Glencairn Social Club on Glasgow Road at 00.15am on Sunday morning when they were struck by a Volkswagen Golf private hire car. Emergency services attended and both victims were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Staff describe the man’s injuries as life threatening while the boy is in a stable condition. Police Scotland said the 60-year-old male driver of the private hire car failed to stop at the time of the incident, but was traced a short time after. The force is appealing for witnesses. Sergeant Craig McDonald from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Motherwell said: “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances of this incident and we want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened." Police Scotland said the 60-year-old male driver of the private hire car failed to stop at the time of the incident, but was traced a short time after. stupid boy as captain Mainwaring would say now he'll lose his badge for sure even the accident wasn't his fault |
