Two women killed and 10 people injured in taxi crash Two women have died and 10 people have been injured following a collision in Doncaster between two taxis in the early hours of this morning. At around 12.25am, a Fiat Scudo taxi was travelling along Great North Road in the direction towards Doncaster. The vehicle contained the 40-year-old driver and six passengers, three men aged 22, 25 and 29-years-old, and three women, aged 21, 25 and 26-years-old. At around the same time, a LTI London taxi, carrying a 61-year-old driver and four passengers; two women aged 59 and 52-years-old, and two men both aged 58-years-old, was travelling along the same road but in the opposite direction, towards Bawtry. The collision occurred near to the Mount Pleasant hotel on Great North Road. The two women, 52 and 59-years-old, travelling in the LTI taxi sadly died following the collision. The two men in the same vehicle sustained minor injuries, as did the six passengers in the Fiat, and were all taken to hospital. The drivers of the taxis, both men, were also taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries. source: http://www.itv.com/news/calendar/update ... axi-crash/ |

Two women died and 10 people were injured in a crash involving two taxis in South Yorkshire. The accident happened shortly after midnight on the A638 at Rossington, Doncaster, leaving the Great North Road closed. The two women, aged 59 and 52, were passengers in a black cab heading towards Bawtry, said police. The other taxi carried six passengers and a driver. It was travelling in the opposite direction to Doncaster. Two men, both aged 58, also travelling in the black cab, sustained minor injuries. The six passengers in the other taxi were three men aged 22, 25 and 29, and three women, aged 21, 25 and 26. The drivers of the taxis were men aged 40 and 58. All 10 were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries, South Yorkshire Police said. The road was closed for a time but has since reopened. from BBc news website Not a lot to go on I have driven on that road a couple of times and there are a few awkward corners and junctions if i remember correctly but it sounds to me that one of the drivers made a bad mistake. I think it is a case of wait and see but the police had the road open quite quickly afterwards which sounds as though the accident investigation was straightforward |

Anyone else notice how the 2 that died were in the purpose built vehicle and the ones in the converted bread van all survived? |

It is wrong to make assumptions about the two vehicles or why the deceased were in a particular vehicle until all information about the accident is available. |
