Speeding biker has taxi driver's licence renewedA PETROLHEAD biker who was caught speeding at 100mph has had his taxi driver's licence renewed.
A taxi driver of 25 years, Michael McGlashan from Bonhill had applied to renew his licence after being caught speeding on his motorbike last year.
A Police Scotland representative told how Mr McGlashan was caught doing 100mph in a 60mph zone along the A85 on the way to Oban.
He had been fined £300 and given six penalty points.
Mr McGlashan caused councillors and members of the public at the committee to smirk while he recounted how he had been a "bit boisterous" on his first ride of the season last April.
"It was one of those moments. I was caught up in the moment when out with my pals," he told the committee. "I've never had a fault with my taxi driving in all of my 25 years."
The motorbiker told how he spend £3,000 on lawyers despite pleading guilty to speeding.
Councillors unanimously agreed to renew Mr McGlashan's taxi driver's licence.
