Hi I have just purchased a London taxi tx1, got it taxi tested by our local authority and passed with no problems. I went to the local taxi office to register my rank plates from my old car onto the new one and was told that I could not have a London type taxi on this council. there are no age restrictions on vehicles and they say it doesn't meet there criteria. I have asked for there criteria but they have not got one. Does anyone have any advice regarding this please.

Sounds like a refusal - your entitled to take them to the crown court.

It would assist people to give advice if we were made aware of the Council involved.

Contact your councilor, stating that the vehicle is fully WC accessible and should not be discriminated against

That worked for me a few years ago when I had a vehicle that was over the age limit.

I take it you want it as a hackney not a private hire?

Never known a TX to be refused as a hackney.

Barrow don't allow them as private hire don't think there is a problem with hackney.

Having checked Taxi(hackney carriage)licensing forms,if you filled in the correct forms transferring an existing Taxi license from a saloon vehicle to a wheelchair accessible London Cab they cannot refuse to carry out your instructions.

If it is a new application for a Taxi license they can refuse as there is a limit on licenses issued.
