Slough taxi driver association boss slams criticism over child safety Taxi association boss slams criticism over child safety A TAXI driver association has hit back against child safety campaigners who have expressed concerns about a lack of sufficient checks and safeguarding training for drivers. Ibrar Khan, chair of the Slough Taxi Association, has condemned comments made by child safety campaigners that a high number of taxi driver licences issued by councils and the lack of child safety training for drivers, inferred children could be at risk. He says the dangerous comments 'insinuate drivers are being perverts'. Mr Khan said: "These comments are damaging to the taxi trade in this area. "Slough is geographically very well situated [hence the high number of licences] and the council has a robust policy. They are very strict about who they give licences to and are very stringent in the checks that it does." Richard Stokes, former leader of Slough Borough Council, is concerned after safeguarding training, initially due to have been implemented from January, was delayed. The council said it simply did not have the resources for the training at the time and hopes to kick the training off in April. source: http://www.sloughobserver.co.uk/news/14 ... ld_safety/ |

i cant get away with all this child safety training for taxi DRIVERS , its a load of nonsense tbh firstly, if you are a ph/hack working, you probably wont ( or wouldn't) pick up a unaccompanied child , most will be with there parents, are you gonna question the parents in a five/ ten min taxi ride? i doubt it tbh ?? secondly, if you have a school run like i do , that's what the escorts are for, they should be trained ( personally , i also think the escort should have "basic" first aid training, that's just me though ) , not the driver, i have a school run in a bus , i sit in the front alone, the escort sits in the back, she spends the whole run mixing with the kids, i don't, im driving & concentrating on the rush hour traffic as i have a bus load of kids thirdly, we have them kids in the bus about 30 mins a day each way, the teachers have them for approx 8 fooking hours a day , so who is most likely to spot anything then? i have had to do 2 of these courses and as i said in a previous post, they encourage you to get to know the kids, communicate with them so they will confide in you , get in to a regular routine so they are settled, yet all this goes completely out the window when another firm "undercuts" you for £3 a day, seemingly they are not that bothered anymore its all change to save the council a few quid, i asked the lass who was doing my course this question & got the "sorry that's not my department" reply , most in the room agreed & she didn't know where to turn , like i said the whole thing is a nonsense, just used to get more cash coming in to the council , luckily, mine was paid for by the owner of the bus company i do my run for, i feel sorry for the lads who have to fork it out themselves , a waste of hard earned cash tbhjust read this from a link on here, she was in a shop with her mother & brother ffs, what chance have we got then ?? |
