The above article has raised an interesting question locally. Would there be a single licensing authority or would there be zones, beyond the boundaries of which a plying cabbie will not stray?

I know that there is a difference in the areas available to green badge and yellow badge cabbies in London. What are those areas?

Do any other authorities have zones within the boundaries of a single LA? Which ones? Does it work or are there tensions over and above the usual 'out of town' issues that we are used to?

they have a merger of services in Tunbridge wells and Maidstone - both taxi fleets operate the same as they did prior to the merger, but costs are allegedly cheaper

I had actually forgotten that a lot of our administration function is shared with Gosport!

Cornwall is a UA - it has six Zones. The Zones match the old LA areas.
