Taxi driver has car 'driven at him' during dispute in Derby city centre POLICE said they are investigating after a motorist drove his car at a taxi driver following a dispute over a parking space. Officers from Derbyshire police said the victim had been trying to park his taxi on the street in the Morledge, Derby, when he was challenged by another motorist. A spokesman for the force said: "The taxi driver then decided to park elsewhere but was further challenged by the man when he got out of his vehicle. "The offender shouted racial abuse at the taxi driver before getting back in his car and driving it at the victim. There was a minor collision in which the victim was not seriously injured, after which the car was driven off towards Traffic Street. "The offender was white, aged about 23, 5ft 8ins tall, of chubby build and with a chubby face. Officers investigating the incident - which happened at about 12.30am on Easter Monday - are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. "Although it happened in the early hours of the morning, police believe there were several people in the area of the Morledge, close to Derby Crown Court and nearby pubs. "Anyone who can help should call PC Tim Phillips on 101, quoting crime reference 13531/16.
