A man was struck with a crow bar and a woman assaulted during an aggravated burglary on a taxi office in Leicester.

Detectives are investigating the incident, which happened in New Parks in the early hours of Sunday morning (MARCH 17).

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said “five people” targeted the premises, in Dillon Road, shortly after 1am.

He said: “Five people went into the front area of the office and assaulted one man with what was believed to be a crowbar.

“They then forced their way into a rear office and assaulted a female member of staff.

“The group then made off from the premises in a black Volvo V70, having taken money. “Neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries.”

The car was found abandoned in nearby Stenson Road, having been involved in a collision.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone who saw the car being driven in the area in the early hours of Sunday.

Detective Sergeant David Speight, from the force’s complex crime team, said: “I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the black Volvo being driven around New Parks prior to this burglary taking place.

“I’d also like to speak to anyone who has not yet contacted police but who either saw the group making off from the premises in Dillon Road, or leaving the vehicle following the collision in Stenson Road.

He added that no arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police 101 number.

New parks just off the M1,M69 and the leicester ring road :-k

suspect these picked this target as somewhere to make an easy getaway

but there again why head to Stenson road and not straight out on the ring road ?

If they had brains they wouldn't try and rob a taxi office.

I doubt that the perps were going very far after the robbery. You have New Parks, Braunstone and Beaumont Leys all in a row. 3 of the worst scum areas of Leicester.

Yes, a lot of taxi/private hire companies still prefer to get their drivers rent in cash. I wonder why #-o
( couldn’t be anything to do with HMRC could it ???? )

I find it is the drivers who are reluctant to pay by bank transfer. It would mean that they have to put their takings in the bank rather than keep it out in cash.
