Why is taxi fare between Leek and Stoke Station so expensive?

I WOULD be most grateful if any of your readers, or better still local taxi firms, could explain to me why the taxi fare between Leek and Stoke-on-Trent train station is so ridiculously expensive.

A recent trip to Milton Keynes, distance 220 miles return on Virgin Trains. cost me £22.50, an absolute bargain in my humble opinion.

And yet the return taxi fare from Leek to Stoke-on-Trent was £45 for a 20 mile round trip. How can this possibly be justified?

I look forward to hearing from your readers, or better still the guilty parties themselves!

Why didn't she write to the Council?? Maybe they could furnish her with a table of fares?

because she's a typical publicity seeking whining numpty that thinks taxis run on water and drivers haven't got bills to pay so can afford to charge people bus fares in a vehicle with less than 10% of the seats of a bus and 60 to 70 percent of the running costs

If you booked the entire train for yourself do you think it would have been £22?
