Arbroath taxi driver, 61, attacked by man ‘demanding money’



A man assaulted and attempted to rob a taxi driver in Arbroath on Sunday night.

Police have appealed for information after the 61-year-old victim reported the assault in Warddykes Avenue around 10.20pm.

Tayside Division has described the assailant as being in his twenties and wearing a dark-coloured top or jacket.

A spokeswoman said: “The victim was within his black Ford Mondeo taxi at the time, when the man entered the taxi and demanded money.

“The taxi driver sustained an injury to his hand during the incident.”

It is understood the man did not make off with any money.

Anyone with information that could assist officers with their enquiries into the incident is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
