Licence warning for Dundee taxi drivers The convener of Dundee City Council’s licensing committee has issued a stark warning to the city’s taxi drivers. Councillor Stewart Hunter has told drivers who have not been through the right level of training by next May that they will not have their licence renewed. He said: “The committee has unanimously backed its previous position by making it crystal clear to drivers, operators and the Dundee public that unless a taxi driver has passed one of the three approved training courses by May 31 next year then their licence will not be renewed. “We understand the valuable role taxi drivers play as ambassadors of the city when they are the first point of contact for tourists and visitors, and the vital part they play in public safety getting people to their destination without incident. “I want to make it absolutely clear that there are no ifs or buts — any driver who doesn’t have the qualification after May 31 will not have their licence renewed and could potentially lose their livelihood.” source: https://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/fp/l ... i-drivers/ |

Now if they'd offer us something more practical like skid pan training, basic self defense or first aid training i.e. things of practical use to cabbies or pirate hire then I'm sure take up would be much more swift Oh and of course making sure the courses are actually available and run might help especially in lincoln

The one thing a TAXI driver has definitely to oppose is first aid training and the carrying of a first aid box in the vehicle, either can make you liable in there use. |
