Complaint raised following claims minicab drivers are parking on double yellow lines in Harlesden High Street A motorcyclist from Brent has complained after witnessing minicabs parking up on his local high street. A motorcylist from Brent has released dashcam footage of minicabs reportedly lining Harlesden High Street, where he claims the cars are parking on double yellow lines. Richard Jordan who recorded the footage claims the minicabs on "are all empty". He said: "I am not sure if they are going for their breaks in one of the local shops but there seems to be a constant presence their from late evening onwards, so if some leave, others, I assume replace them." Mr Jordan, who is a motorcyclist, said he has had enough, complaining that he was almost in a collision with one of the vehicles. "One of the minicabs drivers pulled out in front of me, causing me to brake hard to avoid hitting him," he said. "The drivers there are always pulling out, spinning around etc, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they cause an accident." Mr Jordan added: "I think most of these drivers are part of the Uber mob." In response, a spokesman for Uber has said it is not able to instruct drivers on where to park. "Drivers that use the Uber app are independent contractors who work for themselves and are able to partner with more than one private hire operator in London," the spokesman said. "Whilst we regularly remind drivers of their obligations, Uber is not able to instruct drivers where they can or cannot park." Mr Jordan believes not enough is being done:. He said: "It really is infuriating that nothing seems to be being done about the chaos these drivers can cause." In response, a spokesman for Brent Council said: "The council carry out routine parking enforcement visits on Harlesden High Street and have issued 274 Penalty Charge Notices in this area since July." Brent Cross shopping centre to rival Westfield in plan to double in size with £1.4bn makeover As of 2014, the government made it illegal for closed circuit television spy cars alone to enforce on-street parking. Penalties can now only be handed out via parking tickets on windscreens from wardens. Brent Council has urged members of the public to report parking infringements to them by calling 020 8290 8300. source: http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news/com ... b-12104295 |

Once again a operator who totally disregards licensing laws,do they not realise that a car under their control(getting bookings from the system they operate)makes them corporately responsible for what ever it does whilst logged onto the system. They can and should give instructions on where to park and not too. |

they do it all over the Short term car park at Birmingham International which used to be a great waiting point while passengers got their bags and came out is now chocker with Ubers making themselves available for an airport pick up Uber do this they get loads of cars to park up near a major source of business so that when the clicks come in a car is less than 5 minutes away heathrow are having to build an entire car park to accommodate them ! |

Wrong they can only issue advice, a driver committing CIVIL offences cannot be the responsibility of Uber Add Lee on any proprietor. that includes speeding parking on zebras etc Having some basic knowledge would be helpful sometimes

Uber has no legal control over where the cars using their app sit. If the operator I work with said I couldn't park here or there, he would be told f*** off.
