The action was organised by James Farrar and Yaseen Aslam, who three weeks ago won a crucial employment tribunal verdict that Uber should treat its drivers as workers rather then self-employed. The ruling means drivers should be paid the national minimum wage, receive sick pay and holidays. Uber said it would appeal the judgment. Farrar and Aslam have established a representative group for minicab drivers, mostly working for Uber, called United Private Hire Drivers (UPHD).

The battle over Uber and driverless cars is really a debate about the future of humanity

“In May 2017, Uber’s licence comes up for renewal and the mayor has a duty to assess whether they are fit and proper to hold a licence,” said Farrar. “He must assess that Uber respects workers’ rights in order to continue having an operator’s licence in London.”

and if he says no will that be 40000 drivers looking for a job ?

Uber insists that its drivers earn more and said that the only case of a driver earning £5 per hour over 90 hours

Are Uber that thick as to make a comment about drivers working 90 hours? ](*,)

And are they deliberately confusing people by quoting earnings, not actual take home pay after overheads are paid?

James Farrar & Yaseen Aslam

Uber Employment Tribunal Claimants and Founders of United Private Hire Drivers

Why would a union risk its own money when these two are clearly promoting another group?

Uber drivers staging a go-slow in London? Those poor suckers are the CAUSE of the go slow in London! The evenings I have to drive there all I see is Uber and AddyLee cars dithering about all over the place, not knowing where the fook they are, half watching their satnavs, half watching the door numbers, none of them aware of my fookin' great bus about to flatten them! Lucky my bus has video cams (even though I hate them), so when they get wiped out it can be proved it was their fault.
