A man says he was called a “dirty p**i” and “p**i bastard” and was spat at in his face in a horrific racist attack in Liverpool.

The 24-year-old victim, who is a student at John Moores University , said he was driving when a taxi driver accused him of cutting him up on Grove Street on December 2.

“He wound down the window and verbally assaulted me - saying I was a dirty p**i and a p**i [edited by admin]”, the victim, who wants to remain anonymous, told the ECHO.

The student added the taxi driver then drove forward and the woman in the back of the black cab wound down the window and spat in the his face.

The 24-year-old pulled over to ring the police but the man got out and started pushing him, as well as continuing to abuse him.

“It was 1pm on a busy street and not a single person stopped or said anything and the abuse went on for a good five or ten minutes”, he said.

The victim then drove off in his vehicle and said he felt totally powerless: “My hands were tied, there was nothing I could do, I felt so angry and upset.”

Merseyside Police said: “The matter is being investigated as a race hate crime and the victim has been contacted with the offer of specialist support.”

According to police, the victim was left shaken but unharmed by the ordeal.

Detective Inspector Neil Kavanagh said: “We cannot tolerate this type of crime on our streets and I’m appealing to anyone who has any information about it, to get in contact.

"This is a busy stretch of road and I’d ask anyone who witnessed this incident to give us a call.”

The best way to deal with it is instead of getting annoyed and on your high horse to say "OK" and then educate them as to why you find it offensive
