A Hull man has said he is mortified after he could not get a taxi to take him and his dying puppy to a vet following a freak accident.
John Taylor, of east Hull, was at home on Saturday night when his six-month-old pup, Rufus, slipped and fell down the stairs onto a vacuum cleaner.
With the dog close to death, his owner was told by vets to get him to the clinic as soon as possible so they could perform emergency surgery. But after calling taxi companies to try and help take both of them to the vets, Three Five Taxis refused to do so. Other firms said they had no cars available. Rufus died soon after.

Mr Taylor said he was angry he was refused transport to help his beloved pet.
"I rang them straight away and asked for a taxi and they said where from and where was I going," he said.
"I told them I was going to the vets and I said I was taking my dog because he was dying and I needed to get him there as soon as possible.
"They said they couldn't take him in case of drivers' allergies and cause there was no carriers around. They had a taxi available, but they couldn't take my dying dog to the vets so they could save him because he was a dog. I don't think that's right."
After informing the vets that he was stranded, they sent an emergency surgeon out to try and treat Rufus, a Staffordshire bull terrier, but by the time they reached him the dog had already passed away.
"It was too late," Mr Taylor said. "Rufus had already died, and it had cost me £140 for the vets to come out as well. I am cheesed off about what happened."
Mr Taylor said he was crushed about the death of his beloved dog.
"Me and my ex split up so there was only me and him," he said.
"He was more like family and my companion. He was only a little dog and I have been in bits since."
A spokesman for Three Five Taxis said the policy for them and other taxi firms was only to take pets in allocated dog carriers.
"We are not able to take dogs unless they are a guide dog," he said. "That's the same way across taxi firms. We do have a lot of dog carriers but unfortunately unless they are in at that particular time we won't be able to take them. That's unfortunately how it works."

, that dog probably had the help of a size 10 going by the looks of him tbh , still, never judge a book by its cover i suppose
