A taxi driver and bouncer who raped a woman then covered her in leaves when she played dead was today labelled a “dangerous sexual predator and liar”.
Yassar Murat Ayuc, 49, targeted a vulnerable victim, giving her a lift in a car to a secluded spot near Rock Ferry Oil Terminal.
He later said the drunken woman forced herself on him, was “too strong” to stop, and he feared she would damage his penis.
A jury rejected his claims and found Ayuc – known as Turkish Tony – guilty of raping her in the early hours of Sunday, June 5 last year.
Judge Brian Cummings, QC, jailed him for nine years, with an extended five years on licence, at Liverpool Crown Court.
He said: “She played dead and lay motionless face down on the ground. Once you had finished the rape she was aware of you panicking and covering her over with leaves and probably broken weed fronds.
“You left her face down, apparently in an unconscious state, at the top of a slipway into a tidal river.
“You could have made an anonymous call to emergency services, but you simply abandoned her to her fate.
“You showed no regard for her at all. You treated her in an appalling, callous and cowardly way.”
The woman described herself as being ‘10 out of 10’ on a scale of drunkenness when she got in Ayuc’s car in Argyle Street, Birkenhead at around 4.20am.
She wanted to go to a friend’s home, but Ayuc, formerly of County Road in Walton, started to touch her leg and headed to Bedford Road East.
After Ayuc drove off she went looking for help near The Refreshment Rooms pub, making her way onto Rock Ferry bypass, where a taxi driver found her at 5.10am.
Robert Dudley, prosecuting, said forensic examination revealed Ayuc’s DNA on her jacket, jeans and knickers.
After raping his victim – who had told him she was a lesbian – Ayuc went home, where he was seen nonchalantly checking his phone.
Judge Cummings said he strongly suspected Ayuc had been hanging around outside nightclubs in Liverpool looking for a vulnerable woman, rather than just talking to doormen pals as he claimed.
The judge said: “I am perfectly sure, however, that was why you were then in Birkenhead.
“It is no coincidence you left outside the club and headed in the direction of your car immediately after your victim had done the same.
“Clearly her vulnerable condition was obvious and you targeted her intending to rape her.
“The location was already part of the plan and you had identified it as an ideal place to commit rape because it is a secluded site.
“You took her to a remote location where you knew it was highly unlikely to be interrupted or seen and abandoned her, knowing the same factors would make it difficult for her to raise the alarm and get help either quickly, or at all.”
Her mobile phone and wallet have never been recovered, but the judge said he could not be sure Ayuc had taken them.
Judge Cummings ordered him to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life and said: “You are a dangerous sexual predator and a dangerous liar.”
The ECHO revealed Ayuc was banned from the road for six months in 2015 after driving hen parties around in an illegal stretch limousine.
He was previously caught in an undercover police sting when out kerb-crawling after repeatedly trying to entice a policewoman into his car.
Ayuc was hauled before Liverpool council’s taxi driver licensing panel, which could have revoked his licence.
But he begged for mercy and the panel decided to suspend his licence for just one month.
