The following is a letter that is in tonights South Wales Echo :-

BLACKLISTED BY TAXI COMPANY

A few months ago I went to a party in Tongwynlais. Taxis were booked to take me and a friend home to Dinas Powys and two other friends had a different taxi to Gwaelod y Garth.

The next day we were told an incident had occurred with the other taxi, but as we had nothing to do wth it and were nowhere near Gwaelod we didnt think any more about it.

However, the next week we discovered this particular taxi firm had told all the major taxi firms in the Cardiff area that we were to be blacklisted.

I am now unable to get a Cardiff taxi anywhere as my mobile phone number is on a list !(we used my phone to book the two cars)

Since April I have been confined to a wheelchair and I rely on friends, family and taxis to get around - I used this particular firm regularly because they accomodated wheelchairs.

When my friend contacted the company to ask why I was blacklisted they said it was because the other taxi driver asked for it so it was up to him whether or not I would be taken off the blacklist!!

I wrote to the cab firm who didnt even bother to reply to my letter.
Its only thanks to a friend of a friend who heard about our situation that we now manage to get taxis again.

The original taxi firm admitted my companion and I had done nothing wrong.

We paid our fare, tipping the driver as usual, only to be repaid by getting ourselves on some dreadful list banning us from Cardiff taxis

I intend to take the matter further.

Dinas Powys

How far do you think she could take it ????

And what must you do to get yourself banned from ever using taxis ???

I'm quite surprised this has got that far, I would have thought she could have sorted it out with the cab firm concerned.

That said, I'm a massive fan of blanking iffy punters. And if all the firms keep tab on the iffy ones, then good on them. =D>

unlucky for her that the incident in the other car was linked to her phone. i dint think she can do much about it unless she goes cap in hand to the firm.

if they dont want her booking then tough tittys.

You could change your sim card in the mobile and give another name, say, Jones

It might also be the address that is blanked.

But that woman booked both taxis, so she is at least partly responsible for the other people. She and they need to sort it out with the driver.

The fact that that hasn't happened, makes me think there is more to this than has come out.

think its a wee bit hard on some one who has done nothing wrong they should black list the other persons home address then. makes you wonder what the other person did:?: :?:

i do not think that this person is not responsible for the other persons actions if that was the case we would be in big big trouble when you look at the way some cab drivers act they would ban the lot of us and then she would not have to worrie about being black listed as there would be no cabs.

In some respects it's quite good this story has made the press.

If for no other reason than it will be known to all that if you f*** around with one cab firm, then you wont be able to use another.

we have blanked addrsses come up on our screens when the customer rings.
called call popping i think.
problem is that sometimes we get giving a job to a place the screen says we shouldnt pick up from.
case of peanuts and monkeys. 8-[
